Billy Graham (??): The Holy Spirit |
Although The Holy
Spirit is part of the Trinity, it is often the least understood and most
neglected one in the Trinity among evangelical Christians. Billy Graham explains
who The Holy Spirit is, the roles it plays, what it means to be baptised and
be filled with the Holy Spirit. He also describes how we can be filled with
the Holy Spirit. ·
The Holy Spirit
is God. He is not a “force” but a Divine Person. ·
His work was
involved from the time of creation to the time of Christ, to the Pentecost
and to now. ·
He was the
inspirer of the scripture. ·
He illuminates
and guides the believers. ·
He convicts us,
calls us and protects us. |
When do Christians get
baptised by the Holy Spirit? |
Billy
Graham believes that we are baptised by the Holy Spirit the moment we come to
faith in Christ. ç (Message:
continued) ·
He regenerates
us and assures us of our salvation. ·
He is the seal
which proves that we are saved. ·
He was given to
us from God as a pledge to secure our salvation. ·
He is our
witness that we are the Children of God. In ordered to be filled
with the Holy Spirit, we need to first understand who He is, submit our
entire self to God and walk in faith with God. |

Eric Sandras (2006): Plastic Jesus |
This book is an
invitation to look inwards. The author shares with us some of the icons of
suburbia that have challenged and sometimes derailed his spiritual life. His
goal of this book is to lead us to a crossroads where we must decide whether
we will explore the new territory in front of us: or settle for the familiar
we have grown to resent. |
What are the icons of
suburbia? How do we get out of
suburbia? |
Jer 6:16: “STAND at the
crossroads and LOOK, ASK for the ancient paths, ASK where the good way is,
and WALK in it, and you will find REST for your souls.” Each chapter explores
some area of modern reality and how like the author I can put a right
perspective on my daily life. Keeping up with the

This book shows parents
and parent-to-be how to teach, communicate, and discipline your child in God’s
way and the importance of putting our value and belief at early age. |
To train up your children, what is
the most important thing to teach them when they were young? |
“Train a child in the way he should
go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6 |

Philip
Yancey (2006): Prayer: Does It Make Any
Difference? |
Prayer
is not magic. When God seems distant, or when we suffer with prayers
seemingly unanswered, we know He is still there loving us. We should humble
ourselves and know that God is in charge, not us. |
How
do we make sense of unanswered prayers? |
·
Our sin and
selfish desire may make our prayer in vain (Isa 1:15, Jas 4:3) ·
Some prayers
are logically impossible (e.g. both sides praying for victory in wars) ·
Unanswered
prayers sometimes are blessings ·
Sometimes God
answers prayers in ways we don’t expect or outcome we can’t fathom. We have
to have faith that God can make something good out of any situation,
especially from an eternal point of view. ·
Sometimes we
just have to wait ·
God appears to
respect the natural laws that He sets and the human freedom that He delegates.
Miracles are not entitlements. Even Jesus and His disciples had to suffer and
die. |
