Chan, Stephen	Philip Yancy (1990): Where is God when it hurts	The book has 3 main sections addressing particular aspects of the problem of pain: the role of pain in life, God’s view, and how can we respond. The messages: (a) Pain is beneficial—it serves as a warning system. Without pain, we would also suffer and (b) Suffering is not part of God’s original design and He is not pleased by it.	Does God order suffering? Or did he simply allow human mess up the world and now is watching from a distance?	God who is neither unpredictable nor unconcerned. Using examples from the Bible and from his own experiences, the author looks at pain—physical, emotional, and spiritual—and helps us understand why we suffer.

Jesus is both son of God and son of man. He is not just a human being but God with us. How could God: be born by a virgin, survive in the desert, have no place to lay His head, be crucified by His created man? From this perspective, we have to say He is an awesome God.
